Volunteer Committee List 2022-2023


 

Business of Design Committee

Committee members will present topics and select speakers for monthly Business of Design lecture series at theMart.

 

Education Committee

This committee will provide design software classes (AutoCAD, Sketchup, etc) for our membership that will be taught at a local college. Our goal is to offer 5 classes this year.

 

Industry Partner Cocktail Party Committee

Committee members will plan a networking event for industry partners to connect with our Board of Directors and Committee Chairs to learn more about the benefits of sponsorship.

 

Philanthropic/Charity Committee

Committee members will work with a local domestic violence shelter to create a space for healing and organize volunteers to execute the design project.

 

Mental Health Awareness Committee

This committee will consider partnering with IIDA or multiple organizations, for an in person event. Our focus is to get donations that will go towards suicide prevention and mental health research.

 

Awards Committee

This committee will be responsible for maintaining records and finding chapter members who qualify for submissions. They will ensure that our members know about the succession and possible honors. There will not always be someone to submit each year.



Celebration of Design Committee

Celebration of Design is the culmination of the Design Excellence Awards, which opens for entries in the spring of each year. Every July, we gather judges from around the chapters to judge anonymously. The committee will be part of planning the event, sponsorship, food and beverage, and the presentation.

 

Communications Committee

This committee will work directly with the Communications Director on relaying information from the chapter to the membership and design community. These communications include, but not limited to: social media, e-blasts, directory, newsletters, website updates, and IMPACT magazine.

 

Holiday Party Committee

Committee members will take part in the overseeing and planning of the Annual Holiday Party. This event takes place on the first Monday in December and is partnered with Modern Luxury.

 

WELL & LEED Committee

This committee will educate and encourage members to take the WELL AP and LEED AP exams. They will also plan the WELL Tour of a LEED & WELL certified commercial, residential, hospitality, or healthcare building in the Chicago area. The tour ends with a cocktail party.

 

Art of Dining Committee

Committee members will plan the event where designers will interpret the work of a different artist and design a tablescape in their partnered gallery. A local food bank will be a charity partner.

 

Industry Partner Trade Show Committee

This committee will plan a trade show where vendors set up tables for designers to learn about products and services.

 

Annual Meeting Committee

This committee will plan and coordinate the Annual Meeting. This event is to award volunteers for dedicating their time and energy to the chapter.

 

Business Practice Bootcamp

This all-day workshop is hosted at theMart. It teaches business enhancement strategies, the language of the design business, how to manage and prioritize tasks, file management, etc.

 

Ambassador Committee

This committee is responsible for promoting ASID to the public and the interior design community. Its purpose is to educate on what interior designers do and the value of hiring or becoming an ASID Member.

 

Emerging Professional Committee

Committee members will host Student and Emerging Professional events while collaborating with the Student Affairs Committee. Members will educate and encourage students to Allied Membership Advancement.

 

Membership  Committee

The goal is to support current members, recruit new members, and to encourage participation in chapter committees and events to enhance membership experience. The committee will coordinate events and activities such as Speed Networking to encourage membership.

 

NeoCon Luncheon Committee

Committee members will take part in the coordinating and planning of the annual luncheon on the first Monday of Neocon. Our goal is to bring all ASID Members together during NeoCon at a sponsored location.

 

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee

This committee focuses on diversity and inclusion as core values and part of our strategic plan. We value and cultivate ideas from diverse backgrounds, and strive to bring diversity, equity and inclusion to our chapter.


Government Affairs Committee

Committee members will monitor the ASID headquarter government affairs for chapter policy agenda as it is taken up by the legislature, regulatory boards, commissions, and the Executive Branch. They will collaborate with IIDA, CIDQ, and ASID National to disseminate information to our members, encourage RID, and educate on the new Practice Rights beginning January 2023.

 

NCIDQ Study Group Committee

This committee will provide weekly/monthly supplementary support for NCIDQ Candidates during the test preparation season. They will partner with IIDA to create and promote resources for both organizations, connect with CIDQ to educate the design community on the value of the NCIDQ exam, and host a kick off informational session.

 

Student Affairs Committee

Committee members will host the Student & Emerging Professional Meet Up event in December 2022, while collaborating with the Emerging Professional Committee.

 

Student Chapter Start Up Committee

Committee members will assist in the formation of a new student chapter in Illinois. They will be involved in contacting schools and making connections with students and teachers.

 

Design Program School Visits Committee

Committee members will go to a college with an interior design program, and give a presentation on ASID, the value of membership, and why they should become Student ASID. This presentation is done in partnership, and a pre-made Powerpoint presentation is available. You are encouraged to tell your personal story.


Historic Preservation Committee

This committee will review, highlight, and archive 100 Years of Interior Design History. ASID IL was the first Chapter, and we have all of the historical records. They could be framed for the new office and/or digitally archived.

 

ASID Branded Swag Committee

Committee members will design and create branded materials for events and school visits.

 

Sponsorship Committee

The goal is to get additional funding which is considered non-dues revenue. Committee members will talk to Industry Partners and other businesses to sponsor the ASID Illinois Chapter, which allows them to attach their branding to our programs.

 

IMPACT Magazine Committee

Committee members will assist the Communications Director with writing, editing, and providing content ideas for the bi-annual printed and digital newsletter - IMPACT.

 

Social Media Committee

This committee will work with the Communications Director and Social Media Manager to come up with social media content ideas. Members will take photos/videos/reels at ASID Illinois events, like and share content, encourage engagement from members, and assist with keeping Facebook Peer Group Page active.

 

Realtor/Builder Cocktail Party Committee

This committee will plan a networking event for public engagement and awareness.

 

Virtual (or in Person) Firm Tours Committee

Committee members will coordinate and plan virtual or in person tours of firms (Student Affairs and Emerging Professional will work together).
