The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) mourns the passing of Jeffrey Smoler, FASID. Remembered as a talented designer, Smoler formed a company, J.E.S. Designs, which was known for high quality custom cabinetry and furniture. He also served as an educator at Harrington College of Interior Design. An active member of ASID through various committees and advocacy efforts, Smoler supported the organization as treasurer of the Illinois chapter, former president of the Consortium for Design and Construction Careers, and member of ASID’s Illinois advocacy committee. He was inducted into ASID’s College of Fellows in 2021, an honor bestowed on less than one percent of the membership. Smoler was also former national vice president of the American Society of Furniture Designers (ASFD), now known as the International Society of Furniture Designers (ISFD), and a member of the Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI).
Jeffrey Smoler is celebrated by his peers as a passionate supporter of the interior design profession, and dear friend to many ASID members who will be greatly missed.
