At the same time, some artists claim designers are making authorized use of distinctive patterns and cultural motifs. As more designers develop signature styles and product lines, protecting original design is more important than ever, since the industry pushes the lines between inspiration and replication. The discussion will address issues related to how to protect original design (copyright & design patent) and branding (trademark, unfair competition).

Since 1997, David M.
