Student Rep Testimonial

My time spent as a Student Representative to the Board for ASID Illinois has greatly progressed and helped my professional career in the interior design industry. There are so many benefits to being a student representative. Specifically, the support system obtained through networking and meeting other professional members on the board is inspiring. I was given a platform to introduce new, engaging ideas for students in Illinois to ensure more involvement through our local chapter. In doing so, I worked closely with professional interior designers and industry partners and developed lasting professional relationships. If I was not given this amazing opportunity of becoming an SRB, I would not have had the chance to attend the Chapter Leadership Experience hosted by ASID Headquarters. There I met inspirational professional designers and students from all over the country. I learned new ideas and ways of thinking and have incorporated them into my professional career to this day.

Today, I am sitting on the board as the Professional Development Director with a full time job at a well-known interior design firm in Chicago, Gary Lee Partners, all thanks to my connections and knowledge of professionals in our industry. I cannot express the countless reasons to become a Student Representative to the Board – It’s definitely a role students should reach for.
