President’s Message

Dear ASID Illinois Members, I’m beyond excited to officially begin my term as President of the ASID Illinois Chapter for 2024-2025! Serving in this role is an absolute honor. Over the years, this chapter has taught me the value of collaboration, the strength of community, and the power of design to truly make an impact. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to give back to a group that has shaped me both personally and professionally. Every year, the incoming president brings fresh energy and a new focus to the chapter, and I’m excited to share mine: CONNECTION. This year, my goal is to engage with each of you, strengthen our community, and—most importantly—make sure we have fun while we’re doing it! There’s nothing more inspiring than seeing our members, industry partners, and students come together to support each other and share ideas, and I’m here to keep that momentum going. This year is also extra special because it’s ASID’s 50th anniversary! Fifty years of transforming lives through design, creating community, and advancing our profession. It’s an incredible milestone, and I couldn’t be prouder to be part of this chapter during such a significant moment in our history. We’ve come so far, but there’s still so much ahead for us. One of the things I’m most excited about is working alongside a talented Board of Directors. These incredible individuals come from diverse design specialties and career stages, and we’re all united by a shared belief: Interior Design enriches and impacts the human experience. I also want to give a huge shoutout to our amazing committee members and peer group leaders who work tirelessly to make our programming so valuable. Your contributions are essential, and I’m so grateful for all that you do. A big part of our chapter’s mission this year is about embracing growth, especially as we welcome more students and emerging professionals into our community. Their fresh perspectives and enthusiasm are exactly what we need to keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in design. Let’s all make sure we’re creating space for these new voices and showing them the power of being part of a supportive and inspiring community like ASID. As we move into this year, I encourage each of you to get involved in whatever way excites you most. Whether it’s joining a committee, attending a peer group, or mentoring someone just starting out, there’s no shortage of ways to make a difference in our chapter. My challenge to you is simple: find something you’re passionate about and dive in! Together, we can continue to build a chapter that’s inclusive, dynamic, and full of inspiration. Thank you for your continued support and for being part of this incredible community. I can’t wait to connect with all of you and make this year one to remember.
