President’s Message

Hello Members and ASID Friends,

As of October 1, I have taken over as President of the ASID Illinois Chapter.  Together with the incoming board of directors, we are planning a variety of stimulating educational, social, and charitable events this upcoming year! Our talented board shares a common goal of serving the design community and has a shared belief that interior design enriches and impacts the human experience. We work directly with our committee members and peer group leaders that volunteer their time and energy to organize our programming based on the ASID National Strategic Plan. Thank you for everything that you do for the ASID Illinois chapter!

The 2021 - 2024 Strategic Plan dictates our values, including our four core values: Design Excellence, Thought Leadership, Advocacy, and Community Driven. Through these values, two overarching goals have been established which drive the Association and our Chapter:

Goal A - Advance the value of the interior design profession

Goal B - Advocate for the value the interior design profession brings to the design of human-centered environments

We also are proud to support the interior design legislation contained in Illinois House Bill 4715, which establishes practice rights for Registered Interior Designers in the state of Illinois. This legislation supports the ASID Mission Statement that Design Impacts Lives. Our chapter works with our other chapters, ASID National, the IIDA, and the CIDQ to fulfill these very important goals for the profession.

ASID Illinois is a group of designers, students and industry professionals seeking to connect with our colleagues to create an environment that is both fun and professionally enriching. We encourage you to become involved in the daily and yearly events that make ASID Illinois a relevant piece of the interior design community. Things members can do to become involved include participating in a committee, taking on a leadership position, attending a local chapter peer group, supporting our advocacy efforts, mentoring emerging professionals, and attending one of our many educational opportunities. There are so many ways to participate because we have so many upcoming events!

Thank you for supporting us, and I look forward to seeing everyone at these events in the upcoming months,
