Whether it’s a full remodel or a single room design, working in someone’s home for months at a time can be demanding. Join us for what’s sure to be a lively panel discussion talking about how to tackle difficult client interactions and how to change a challenge into a triumph.

Mitchell Channon, ASID – Mitchell Channon Design

Janet Blutter Shiff, ASID – Blutter/Shiff Design Associates

Janet Blutter Shiff, president of Blutter/Shiff Design Associates, has been involved with design of both residential and commercial interiors for more than 35 years. She received her BA from the University of Wisconsin and completed her interior design education at Harrington Institute of Interior Design. To enhance her design skills and technique, she studied in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Ms. Shiff is a recognized professional in the design community, frequently asked to participate on industry discussion panel nationwide. She has appeared on the House & Garden network and on the Discovery Channel. Her work has been published in trade magazines and consumer publications.

In addition to a vast number of residential clients throughout metropolitan Chicago, Ms. Shiff is currently working on projects in New York, Florida, Arizona and California.

Blutter/Shiff Design Associates was first established in 1958 by Janet’s mother and partner, Joan Blutter. Their firm has been located in the Merchandise Mart for more than 50 years.

Brynn Olson – Brynn Olson Design Group

Trained as an artist from childhood, Brynn began her design career creating large-scale indoor and outdoor painted murals for commercial spaces and residences. After attending Vanderbilt University and pursuing an academic career, her love for art and design drove her to re-focus on a career in design, joining Nate Berkus Associates in 2008. She furthered her education in Interior Design at Harrington College of Design while working full-time with the NBA family and managed and designed work for commercial and private high-end residential clients and celebrities, including work featured on/in The Nate Berkus Show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Elle Decor Magazine, CS Interiors Magazine, and Chicago Home + Garden Magazine. She also assisted with development and rendering of original room designs for major publications and TV programs including Chicago Tribune, The Today Show, and Family Circle Magazine.

Her experience in the design process, project management and client relationships lead to the desire to open her own firm in 2012 – driven by the belief that every environment should boast a timeless foundation infused with an edge, that reflects the essence of each client.
